Solar PV is the most common entry point into a home energy upgrade: it is quick to install, needs no disruption to your heating, and the grant is paid on system size. The 2026 rate held at up to €1,800 rather than falling as previously signalled — but the intention remains to taper it over time, so it is worth checking the current rate before you commit.
What it covers
- Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels that generate electricity
- €700 per kWp for the first 2kWp installed
- €200 per additional kWp, up to a 4kWp system
Who qualifies
- Your home was built and occupied before 2021
- You have not already claimed a solar PV grant for the property
- Work is carried out by an SEAI-registered company
- A BER assessment is completed after the work
