Athenry Music School was founded in 2007 with 4 teachers and a student body of 60. It has since grown to a faculty of 40 and over 500 students who arrive each week for individual lessons in strings, wind, percussion, traditional and vocal individual lessons. We run five community orchestras and three choirs, membership of which is open to anyone (not just those receiving lessons with AMS). . Athenry Music School boasts an international faculty of highly experienced and qualified musicians all of whom have music degrees and/ or pedagogical training and many of whom hold master’s degrees and PhDs. Our ethos is one of a child centred approach, in which all children's innate musicality is development in a fun, positive and nurturing environment. Parents are highly valued within the school community and accompany all children of national school age to their lessons. Parent information evenings are held regularly and we host over 50 concerts a year to help enthuse our students and give them the opportunity to build mental resilience.
