The TEFL Institute

The TEFL Institute of Ireland trains people to teach English as a foreign language, in Ireland and abroad. Founded in 2017 and based in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, it is Irish-owned, Guaranteed Irish accredited, and offers Ofqual-regulated Level 5 TEFL qualifications online. Courses run from the 120-hour Advanced International TEFL Course, which most students finish in three to five weeks, up to the 180-hour Ofqual-regulated Level 5 Diploma and the 300-hour Level 5 Advanced Diploma. Specialist modules cover teaching English online, young learners, advanced grammar, neurodiversity in the classroom and using AI as a teacher. Everything is studied online at your own pace with personal tutor support, and the certificate is yours for life. The Institute also works directly with Irish secondary schools. Its Transition Year TEFL programme runs as a school elective in 53 schools across 19 counties, giving students an accredited qualification before they leave school. It holds Gaisce partnership status. Accreditations include Ofqual regulation, Highfield Qualifications (approved centre 21335), OTCAC, AQC via DEAC and the CPD Register, with courses aligned to the European Qualifications Framework. Graduates teach across Europe and Asia, online from home, and on paid placements in Vietnam and Thailand.
