Old Castle Archdale (State Care Monument)

Old Castle Archdale is a historical landmark in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh. It comprises the remains of a T-shaped house and bawn constructed for John Archdale. The castle was built on land granted in 1612, captured in 1641, repaired, and then burned and abandoned in 1689. Surviving elements include part of the south bawn wall with a wall-walk and a gate, bearing a Latin inscription from 1615. The fragmentary house, located at the north end of the bawn, includes parts of the east gable and south wall, and a three-storey north tower with gun-loops and windows.
